Football: Portuguese commercial broadcaster SIC sublicensed the rights for 18 of the 56 matches from next year’s Fifa World Cup from public-service broadcaster RTP. SIC will show 14 group stage matches and four matches from the first knockout round, reportedly paying less than the €6.5m ($9m) it paid to sublicense 13 matches from the 2006 World Cup. Commercial rival TVI also bid for the rights. RTP, which acquired the rights via its membership of the European Broadcasting Union, also agreed a deal with Sport TV for the pay-television rights for all matches.
