Fisu, the governing body of international university sport, has struck a rights deal with the Asia-Pacific Broadcasting Union.
The contract includes television rights to Fisu events running for three years, from 2015 to 2017, and covers all Asian territories and the Pacific region.
The ABU’s deal will encompass the 2015 and 2017 summer editions of Fisu’s multi-sport showpiece the Universiade in Gwangju, Korea and Taipei, Taiwan, respectively. The 2015 winter Universiade took place earlier this year in Granada, Spain and Štrbské Pleso, Slovakia. The Kazakh city of Almaty will host the 2017 edition.
The ABU has more than 274 member broadcasters spread across the region’s 67 countries, covering a viewership of more than 3.5 billion.
