Pay-television broadcaster the Abu Dhabi Media Company has acquired rights for the International Premier Tennis League, according to the Indian Television news website.
IPTL chief operating officer Eric Gottschalk told the website that Abu Dhabi Sports will broadcast the new franchise-based tennis competition, adding that about 80 broadcasters have been signed up for its debut. Further details of the other deals have not been announced.
Indian Television reported yesterday (Monday) that pay-television broadcaster Star India had also acquired rights for the league.
The IPTL includes franchises in the UAE, the Philippines, India and Singapore and its inaugural season runs from November 28 to December 13.
The franchises will consist of a combination of current stars and legends of the game. The UAE’s team includes Novak Djokovic, Eugenie Bouchard and Caroline Wozniacki (pictured).
