The Asian Football Confederation has terminated its media-rights deal with LeSports, which is operated by Chinese internet company LeEco, according to the Reuters news agency.
The AFC cancelled the four-year agreement, which was signed in October 2015, after failing to receive an instalment on the rights fee, the report said.
The deal gave LeSports exclusive rights in China to AFC competitions. The agreement was reported to be worth a total of more than $100m (€95m).
The contract was cancelled last week, the report said, with LeSports having failed to pay an instalment on a deal that covered the Asian Champions League, Asia’s final round of qualifying for the 2018 Fifa World Cup and the Asian Cup from 2017 to 2020.
Reuters said that LeSports made a last-minute payment in December to ensure it was able to honour its fee instalments for coverage of football’s English Premier League.
