Pay-television broadcaster Al Jazeera has acquired exclusive media rights in the Middle East and North Africa for the Uefa Champions League and Europa League club football competitions.
The rights will cover the three-year cycle from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
According to Uefa, football’s European governing body, all Champions League and Europa League games will be shown live by Al Jazeera, with the broadcaster providing coverage in Arabic, English and French via television, online and mobile platforms.
The deal also includes coverage of the 2015, 2016 and 2017 editions of the Uefa Super Cup – the early-season match between the winners of the previous season’s Champions League and Europa League.
The Team Marketing agency brokered the deal with Al Jazeera on behalf of Uefa.
