Altice has entered talks with rival media company Prisa to acquire a majority stake in the latter’s Portugal-based Media Capital.
Media Capital operates Portuguese commercial broadcaster TVI – a major broadcaster of sport in the country which only last week acquired rights for the World Touring Car Championship. Prisa has a shareholding of about three-quarters of Media Capital.
Altice said in a statement it had entered into “exploratory discussions” with Prisa about acquiring the media company’s stake in Media Capital, “a Portuguese media group with leadership positions in TV broadcasting, audiovisual production, radio, digital, music and entertainment”.
