Antenna and OTE land Greek rights to EuroBasket 2013

The International Basketball Federation (Fiba) has awarded the exclusive Greek broadcasting rights for the EuroBasket 2013 national team tournament to commercial broadcaster Antenna TV and pay-television broadcaster OTE TV.

Fiba said the deal marks the first time EuroBasket broadcasting rights have been allocated in their entirety to private networks in Greece.

Antenna will also provide coverage of the tournament, which tips off in Slovenia on September 4, via its website and on mobile platforms.

Fiba had originally been in negotiations with its long-standing partner, public-service broadcaster ERT, and it is understood that both sides were keen to renew their ties. However, talks were broken off abruptly when the Greek government controversially closed down the broadcaster last month.
