German public-service broadcaster ARD and pay-television broadcaster Sky Deutschland have retained rights to German club football’s knockout competition the DFB-Pokal, according to Bild.
The German newspaper said ARD and Sky will pay a significant increase to hold on to the rights to the DFB-Pokal across the three seasons spanning 2016-17 to 2018-19.
Bild said the new agreement will be worth around €100m ($106m) per season to the German Football Association (DFB), compared to the current deal’s valuation of €34m per season.
The sales process is being handled by the Infront Sports & Media agency on behalf of the DFB. Companies were asked to register their interest by September 11.
The DFB’s current broadcast agreement for the DFB-Pokal, which runs until the end of the 2015-16 season, allows ARD to televise eight matches per season live, with Sky providing the remaining 55 games.
