German public-service broadcasters ARD and ZDF have acquired rights to the 2015 Uefa U21 Championship national team football tournament, according to the Quotenmeter.de website.
The 2015 Championship will take place in the Czech Republic from June 17-30. ARD and ZDF will broadcast Germany’s group stage games against Serbia, Denmark and the Czech Republic, along with matches in the knockout phases if the national team progresses.
Rights have yet to be acquired for the remaining games. Commercial broadcaster Prosiebensat.1 held rights for the 2013 tournament, broadcasting games through its main channel, Sat.1, and its basic-tier channel Kabel Eins. The 2013 U21 Championship in Israel was also covered by sports broadcaster Sport1.
