The Atlantic 10 Conference will stream a number of regular-season basketball games live on social media platform Facebook in a move it claims marks a first for a US college sports organisation.
The league will distribute between 10 and 15 live men’s basketball games via the Facebook Live service over the course of the 2016-17 season.
The game schedule will be announced at a later date and will include fixtures that the conference owns the digital distribution rights to.
The games will appear on Facebook’s news feed and via the conference’s official page on the website. They will also be made available through the A-10 Network website and mobile application.
Atlantic 10 is also working with Facebook to optimise its overall strategy on the platform.
Atlantic 10 commissioner Bernadette McGlade said: “This unique and creative partnership with Facebook allows us to expand our reach as a conference, further our presence globally and bring A-10 basketball to an even wider audience.”
