Live coverage of the Australian National Basketball League will be available in China after media companies Ali Sports and Sina Sports agreed rights deals for the competition.
Under the agreements, every game of the 2016-17 season will be available live on both platforms, complete with Mandarin commentary.
Ali Sports will show games on its Youku streaming platform.
Sina Sports will stream every game live via its website, mobile site and the Sina Sports application.
The NBL’s Chinese media partners will maintain dedicated sites featuring highlights and player interviews translated and subtitled for local audiences.
NBL executive director Larry Kestelman said that this was yet another step towards collaborating more extensively with Chinese platforms.
“Basketball is one of the most popular sports in China, a country with a population of more than 1.3 billion people, so the reach and expansion potential for the NBL is immense,” Kestelman said.
