German handball fans will receive further coverage of the 2017 Men’s World Championship after media companies Axel Springer and ProSiebenSat.1 acquired highlights rights to the tournament, which commenced yesterday (Wednesday) in France.
The rights have been acquired from beIN Media Group, the tournament’s global rights distribution partner. ProSiebenSat.1 will broadcast clips of one to two minutes duration of Germany’s games on television via the Sat.1 Nachrichten, Newstime and Kabel Eins News programmes.
Sportdeutschland.tv, the online sports channel of the German Olympic Sports Confederation (DOSB), will provide recordings of all World Championship games. ProSiebenSat.1 holds a majority stake in the platform.
Axel Springer’s Bild.de and ProSiebenSat's Ran.de platforms will provide five-minute highlights clips of Germany’s games 30 minutes after they conclude.
German banking group Deutsche Kreditbank (DKB), a major sponsor of handball in its home country, last week acquired rights to the 2017 Men’s World Championship, averting a broadcast blackout in Germany.
DKB will live stream all games featuring reigning European champion Germany, along with other matches from the Championship, which runs through to January 29.
Germany commences its France 2017 campaign with a game against Hungary tomorrow (Friday) in Rouen.
