LaLiga, the governing body of the top division of Spanish football, has teamed up with beIN Media Group and PPTV to deliver an experience themed around Saturday’s ‘El Clásico’ clash between Real Madrid and Barcelona to three overseas markets.
BeIN and Chinese online television service provider PPTV will aid LaLiga in delivering ‘Global Events’ in the Chinese city of Shanghai, the US city of Miami and the Spanish military base in Lebanon.
LaLiga will erect giant screens in these locations, while each of the events surrounding Saturday’s game in Madrid will also have the participation of a LaLiga ambassador.
Gaizka Mendieta will travel to Miami, while Christian Karembeu and Ismael Urzaiz will be present in Shanghai and Lebanon, respectively.
The move represents the latest fan engagement initiative by LaLiga. The league last month revealed it is to debut a new fan experience initiative in Doha, Qatar.
Developed in partnership with Alnajjah Company, the first LaLiga Lounge will be established inside the sports city area of Doha’s Aspire Academy. The facility will serve as a meeting point for LaLiga fans in the city and supporters from around the world. The Doha LaLiga Lounge will feature various facilities and amenities such as big-screen televisions that will broadcast live coverage of matches, an official league shop as well as an on-site bar and restaurant.
