Pay-television broadcaster BeIN Media Group plans to bid aggressively to acquire rights for games featuring Spanish Liga football clubs Real Madrid and Barcelona, according to Spanish newspaper Marca.
The report said that the broadcaster would be prepared to bid €250m ($282m) to show 20 Barcelona and Real Madrid games apiece per season in a premium Saturday evening slot, with the matches kicking off at 18.15pm.
The newspaper added that the rights are expected to be put on the market in two weeks’ time following the recently-approved Royal Decree, which will switch the sale of rights to a centralised basis from the existing club-by-club approach.
