French pay-television broadcaster beIN Sports has acquired rights for the 2014 Fifa World Cup national football team tournament in a sublicensing deal with commercial broadcaster TF1.
BeIN Sports confirmed yesterday (Wednesday) evening that it will show live coverage of all 64 matches during the tournament, including 36 on an exclusive basis.
The deal also includes a daily magazine show and other support programming.
The coverage will be shown across the beIN Sports 1, beIN Sports 2 and beIN Sports Max channels.
BeIN Sports said that the deal includes “digital media and social network” rights.
The value of the deal has not been disclosed, but it was reported last year that TF1 was keen to recoup some of the €130m ($179m) it spent on acquiring the rights.
