British Superbike Championship signs long-term extension with ITV

UK commercial broadcaster ITV has extended a rights agreement for the British Superbike Championship motorcycling series.

Under the agreement, ITV will broadcast free-to-air coverage of the series until the end of the 2020 season.

The ITV4 channel will continue to show an hour-long highlights programme on Wednesday evenings following all 12 rounds of the series. Each programme will be repeated on ITV4 and ITV and made available via the ITV Hub catch-up service.

A two-hour season review show featuring race action, behind-the-scenes footage and on-board action will also be broadcast each year.

MotorSport Vision, the series’ commercial and media rights-holder, brokered the new agreement.

The 2017 British Superbike Championship begins at Donington Park on April 2.

ITV also holds rights to other motorcycling properties, including the MotoGP and Superbike World Championship series, and the Isle of Man TT event.
