Media rights income is to be distributed by the German Bundesliga to football clubs in the country’s top two divisions based on their exploits in previous campaigns rather than the current season, according to news agency DPA.
The amendment will be introduced for the 2014-15 season, the report said.
The board of the DFL, the German football league, said that the change would allow clubs to plan ahead in line with “precise sums” rather than wait until the end of the season to find out what amount they can expect to receive.
The model will be based on the previous five seasons, the report added.
