The Confederation of African Football has issued an invitation to tender for broadcast services related to its various competitions, including its flagship Africa Cup of Nations in 2021.
The tender process also includes: qualifying matches for the Africa Cup of Nations; the 2020 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations; the 2020 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations; the U17 and U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournaments; the CAF Super Cup tournaments (in 2020 and 2021); and interclub competitions.
CAF has also issued a tender for the marketing services related to the same tournaments in 2020 and 2021.
In November, CAF informed Lagardère Sports of its decision to cancel its $1bn (€880m) agreement with the agency. That deal was due to run from 2017 to 2028.
The International Chamber of Commerce (ICC) subsequently rejected Lagardère Sports’ application for interim emergency measures in its dispute with CAF over the cancellation of a 12-year global media and sponsorship rights contract. The agency has vowed to pursue compensation from CAF and said that the rejection by the ICC would not preclude it from doing so.
The 2021 Africa Cup of Nations will take place in Cameroon.
