Canal del Fútbol, the broadcaster which holds exclusive rights to domestic football in Chile, is evaluating its options after a tender process for highlights rights to the top-tier Campeonato Nacional failed to secure suitable offers.
Chilean newspaper Diario Financiero said general-entertainment channel Mega was the only broadcaster to respond to the tender, but its offer was substantially below the base price sought by CDF.
The tender concerns rights to the Campeonato Nacional over three seasons, from 2016 to 2018. In a statement, Canal del Fútbol said it is “evaluating the best way to develop the product”.
State broadcaster TVN held the contract across the 2013 to 2015 seasons. It included highlights rights to the Primera División and Primera B, along with the Copa Chile competition.
