Spanish pay-television operator Canal Plus has acquired rights to the 2015 edition of pre-season club football competition the International Champions Cup.
Canal Plus will exploit the rights via its Canal Plus Liga channel, with Spanish Liga giants Barcelona and Real Madrid set to compete in the event which expands from its North American base to take in tournaments in Australia and China this year.
Barcelona is set to take part in the North American edition of the ICC from July 11 to August 5, alongside the likes of English Premier League duo Chelsea and Manchester United, as well as French Ligue 1 champion Paris Saint-Germain.
Real will compete in the both the Australian event on July 18-24 and the China competition from July 25-30. Rafa Benitez’s men will face Manchester City and Roma in the former, and Italian Serie A duo Inter Milan and AC Milan in the latter.
