UK broadcasters must submit bids for the rights to England’s Football League, which cover the three divisions below the Premier League and the League Cup, by Tuesday. Bids can be for either three or four years beginning from the 2012-13 season. The rights are currently held in a joint three-year deal by public-service broadcaster the BBC (free-to-air) and BSkyB (pay-television) which expires at the end of the 2011-12 season.
Italian broadcasters must submit bids for the digital-terrestrial rights to Serie B for the remainder of the current season and the 2011-12 season to Lega Serie B by Thursday. The rights were formerly held in a two-season deal by Dahlia, the pay-television platform which went into liquidation in January. Pay-television platform Mediaset Premium is the strong favourite to land the rights.
