Europe-based digital content aggregator and distributor Alchimie has announced the launch of a new sport-focused over-the-top channel, Unbeaten.
With a focus on sports-related news and entertainment programming, Unbeaten will feature a range of original shows on football, basketball and MMA among other sports, as well as archive content. It debuts with over 1,000 hours of programming across sports that also include esports, Formula 1, golf and tennis.
Shows to be offered include Life’s a Pitch, Sport Confidential, The Football Review, Fiba World Basketball, Combat and The Inside Line.
The channel is initially available in the UK via the Alchimie-owned TVPlayer, an OTT platform which carries traditional channels as well as internet-only content. Unbeaten forms part of the premium channel package on TVPlayer, with the package priced at £6.99 (€8.04/$8.82) per month.
The launch comes at a time when rights-holders and broadcasters around the world are turning toward archive and entertainment-based content, with almost all sport suspended due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic.
Nicolas d’Hueppe, chief executive and founder of Alchimie, said: “The OTT channel, which is available on a wide range of digital platforms, is carefully curated and allows armchair sports addicts to access some of the best existing sports shows as well as new content specifically created for Unbeaten viewers.”
Alchimie, which has made its name in premium factual and documentary content, aggregates content created by its partners, which it distributes through its own OTT channels and via tie-ups with technology platforms such as Samsung, Huawei and Amazon. Unbeaten marks Alchimie’s first foray into the world of sport.
The content aggregator, which has offices in France, Germany, Spain, the UK and Australia, bought TVPlayer in September 2019. At the time, TVPlayer had 2.6 million registered users in the UK and 50,000 subscribers.
