Greek pay-television broadcaster Cosmote has launched a new OTT platform for TVs and mobile phones.
The new service will allow subscribers to access 4K content on an OTT platform in Greece for the first time and cost €8 ($8.90) per month for the basic package.
Users can add on the sports package, raising the price to €19 per month, which would grant access to its Cosmote Sport subscription channels.
The new service builds on the broadcaster’s existing Cosmote TV GO platform which was solely available online.
As yet, Cosmote remains the only pay-television broadcaster in Greece to offer an OTT platform. Cosmote has promised that users will be able to watch different content simultaneously on different devices through a ‘Double Play’ feature.
Cosmote holds the Greek rights to several of Europe’s marquee properties including the English Premier League, Uefa Champions and Europa League, and Spanish LaLiga.
Greek Super League 1 side PAOK has spent the season broadcasting its home matches on a newly launched OTT platform after failing to agree a rights deal for the 2019-20 season. Individual matches on PAOK TV are priced at €4.99 with a half-season pass now priced at €69 for the club’s remaining home games this season.
