Greek pay-television broadcaster Cosmote TV has sealed a multi-year extension of its rights deal for North American basketball league the NBA.
The deal was first reported by Greek media outlets last month, but was confirmed by Cosmote yesterday (Tuesday).
Cosmote said it will expand its NBA coverage to over 250 live broadcasts per season, with games broadcast live by Cosmote Sport and on-demand via Cosmote TV Go and Cosmote Replay TV.
During the next two seasons, 2018-19 and 2019-20, Cosmote TV has secured exclusive rights for the regular season, play-offs, NBA Finals, NBA Global Games, All-Star Game and NBA Draft. Cosmote will also cover the women’s WNBA, with over 25 live broadcasts provided.
Cosmote TV executive director, Dimitris Michalakis, said: “Together with the agreements we have with Panathinaikos Superfoods, Olympiacos and AEK for the home matches of the teams in the Greek championship, as well as top European championships, the Cosmote Sport channels offer more than 1,000 hours of live basketball action a year.”
Greek players in the NBA include Kostas Koufos, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Georgios Papagiannis (pictured) and Tyler Dorsey.
