Davidson ‘in plea negotiations’ – court filing

Aaron Davidson, who was head of the Traffic Sports US division, has been “actively engaged in plea negotiations” since his arrest as part of an investigation into football corruption in May, according to a filing in a federal court in New York.

The sports marketing executive was indicted by the US Department of Justice along with 13 other individuals following an investigation into allegations of wrongdoing in relation to media and marketing rights deals concerning football events in the Americas.

The letter was filed ahead of a court hearing for Davidson scheduled for today (Friday).

In May, Davidson entered a ‘not guilty’ plea to charges that he secured deals worth more than $35m (€32m) for Traffic, in part by arranging bribes for former Fifa vice-president Jeffrey Webb, who was extradited to the US on Thursday.

The owner of Traffic, José Hawilla, has already pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy and obstruction of justice amongst other charges.
