DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has confirmed it will launch in Canada “this summer” and will be the exclusive home in the country of the NFL American football league’s Game Pass digital subscription package.
DAZN already has a presence in Austria, Germany, Japan and Switzerland, and the news of the service’s potential launch in Canada was first reported by TV Sports Markets on May 12.
Through NFL Game Pass, DAZN will be able to offer every NFL game live from the upcoming 2017-18 campaign, including the pre-season, regular-season and post-season schedule, as well as the Super Bowl.
As the new home of NFL Game Pass, which includes all Sunday games previously offered through the NFL Sunday Ticket package, as well as NFL RedZone, DAZN will offer live and on-demand NFL coverage with no blackouts.
DAZN will also offer a range of other sports and competitions through the platform in Canada. Subscriptions will cost CAN$20 (€13.71/$15.85) per month or CAN$150 per year under a special introductory offer. All subscribers will also get 30 days free.
In May, Perform struck a multi-year deal to market the NFL’s broadcast rights in more than 100 territories worldwide. The deal, which excluded the US and Europe, included distribution of the Game Pass package.
