DAZN, the OTT service operated by digital sports media company Perform, has named Veronica Diquattro as executive vice-president, revenue of its Italian division.
Diquattro joins DAZN Italy from music streaming service Spotify, where she served as managing director in Southern and Eastern Europe, leading the company’s growth in 16 countries.
In her new role, Diquattro will seek to establish DAZN in Italy, with the platform having last month announced its launch in the country with the purchase of rights to Serie A, the top tier of domestic football, for the 2018-19 to 2020-21 seasons. DAZN Italy has since added rights to the second-tier Serie B for the same three-year period.
Diquattro previously served as director of markets strategy and operations at Spotify and oversaw the company’s successful launch in Italy. She has also worked for Google and held senior roles at L’Oréal, BMW and Ferrari. Diquattro will report to DAZN chief executive James Rushton in her new role.
Rushton said: “We’re leading the charge to give sport fans a better and fairer way to watch their favourite teams and stars on any device, doing for sport what Spotify has done for music, so Veronica’s experience will be invaluable. She is hugely talented and a great cultural fit for DAZN, with a shared vision for doing things differently. Veronica will play a crucial role in shaping the next chapter of our growth story.”
DAZN will show 114 Serie A matches per season from 2018-19, and all 472 Serie B matches, including 428 exclusively.
DAZN said that it would announce more premium rights deals soon. The service is due to go live in Italy this summer and will cost €9.99 ($11.68) per month.
