US virtual reality company LiveLike has partnered with sports media and technology company Deltatre to deliver VR solutions for a range of sporting events.
The partnership will result in the production and distribution of digital and VR services, as well as the development of a new multi-platform VR application.
The application will include Samsung Gear VR and mobile-based experiences.
Specific details of the events that will be covered by the collaboration were not disclosed, but the platform is set to cover a number of leading football events in the coming years. Other sports will also be included under the initiative.
“Along with the rise of OTT, virtual reality is a strategic area we plan to innovate in moving forward,” Deltatre’s chief product and marketing officer, Carlo De Marchis, said.
Both LiveLike and Deltatre have experience of working with Fifa and Uefa, the world and European governing bodies of football, respectively, as well as the Copa America national team tournament, the English Premier League and the German Bundesliga.
