US media and entertainment company Discovery Communications has signed a multi-year rights deal with TNA (Total Nonstop Action) Impact Wrestling to broadcast the professional league on the Destination America channel.
The first Impact Wrestling programme will be shown in January 2015, and the partnership includes the US premieres of additional TNA Wrestling series and specials.
The deal also provides Discovery Communications, Destination America’s owner, with rights in selected international regions, to be announced at a later date.
TNA Impact Wrestling was previously shown on pay-television broadcaster Spike TV each Wednesday night, achieving an average audience of 1.5 million.
Destination America, which was launched in 2012 and is available across the US, is available in about 59.6 million households, or 52.2 per cent of television homes.
The channel, which says it is “dedicated to celebrating the people, places and stories of the US,” has earned 10 consecutive quarters of year-on-year growth among its target audience.
