The German Football League (DFL) has kicked off the sales process for the next cycle of domestic rights for the Bundesliga and Bundesliga 2 – the top two divisions in the country – and the Supercup knockout competition.
The rights will cover four seasons, from 2017-18 to 2020-21.
The DFL said that it had already undergone a consultation with the Bundeskartellamt, the German competition authority.
Companies have been invited to register their interest in acquiring live and highlights rights on satellite, terrestrial, cable, IPTV, online and mobile platforms. Registration forms are available via the DFL’s website.
The DFL added that it would start the tender process and inform interested companies about the final structure of rights packages “and the further course of events upon completion of the assessment of the marketing model for the tender” by the Bundeskartellamt.
It has previously been suggested that the DFL will wrap up its rights-sales process by the start of the Uefa Euro 2016 national team tournament in France.
