International media company Discovery Communications has agreed distribution deals with telco TDC in Denmark and Norway.
Discovery has reached an agreement with TDC-owned GET in Norway for carriage of international sports broadcaster Eurosport, TVNorge, Max, FEM and other Discovery-owned global brand channels.
The deal will make the Eliteserien, the top division of domestic football, more widely accessible when its new 2017 season kicks off in April. Discovery also has signed deals related to distribution of Eliteserien with Canal Digital, Altibox and RiksTV.
The Discovery Networks Norway division of Discovery Communications acquired domestic rights for the Eliteserien under a deal struck in December 2015.
Meanwhile, in Denmark a deal between Discovery and TDC-owned YouSee will give 1.3m Danish households to gain access to Eurosport.
Mike Lang, president of international development and digital at Discovery Nordics, said: “In Norway, we have another strong deal to make our entertainment and sports brands available to more people and are especially excited that GET shares our vision for Eliteserien, giving Norwegian football back to the people, by making more matches accessible to larger audiences.”
