The Los Angeles Dodgers Major League Baseball team agreed yesterday to honour its existing broadcast partnership with US network Fox.
The settlement, which has to be approved by the court overseeing the Dodgers’ bankruptcy case, will allow Fox to retain its local broadcast rights until the conclusion of the 2013 season. Fox will also have an exclusive negotiating period with the Dodgers until November 30 for future rights. Fox and the Dodgers agreed to withdraw lawsuits against each other as part of the settlement.
The Dodgers had wanted an early sale of its media rights in its local region to boost the value of the team, which is being put up for sale on January 23. The ownership auction will be completed by April 30.
