The European Broadcasting Union, the consortium of public-service broadcasters, has acquired media rights for events operated by the International Skating Union global governing body.
The agreement will run for four years, from 2015-16 to 2018-19.
The exclusive deal will cover the EBU’s 56 territories in Europe and the union will also become the ISU’s media rights partner in all other territories, with the exception of China, Japan, Korea, Canada and the US, where the governing body has retained media rights.
The agreement covers 130 events including 52 World and European Championships in the three ISU disciplines of figure skating, speed skating and short track. It will also include Grand Prix and World Cup events as well as the ISU World Team Trophy of figure skating.
