The European Broadcasting Union (EBU), the consortium of public-service broadcasters, has renewed its European rights distribution deal for events operated by the Fédération Internationale des Sociétés d’Aviron, the international rowing federation.
The new deal will run for four years, from 2013 to 2016.
The agreement covers the World Rowing Championships in 2013, 2014 and 2015, the annual World Rowing Cup series and the European Rowing Championships.
The first event covered by the agreement is the opening regatta of the 2013 World Rowing Cup series, from March 22-24 in Sydney, Australia.
Stefan Kuerten, director of sports and business at Eurovision, the EBU’s production subsidiary, said: “That Fisa has once again entrusted Eurovision and the EBU members with giving rowing’s marquee events the free-to-air exposure they deserve tells of a thriving partnership that will continue to grow in strength.”
