The European Broadcasting Union, the consortium of European free-to-air broadcasters, renewed its deal with the Amaury Sport Organisation and Unipublic agencies for rights for the Vuelta a España cycle race for four years, from 2012 to 2015.
“This new contact is excellent news for the Vuelta, and for cycling in general, because EBU Members – which screen many other cycling events as well – offer consistent, comprehensive coverage throughout the season,” said Yann Le Moenner, director general of ASO, the agency which sells the media rights for the race around the world. ASO owns a 49-per-cent stake in Unipublic, the Spanish company which organises the race.
Television coverage of the race will be produced by Spanish public-service broadcaster TVE, an EBU member, which renewed its separate rights and production deal for the race last year.
