The European Handball Federation has received seven offers for the audio-visual and marketing rights to a raft of its competitions for the period from 2020 to 2030.
The rights include the Champions League, EHF Cup and Challenge Cup club competitions, as well as the EHF Euro national team tournament, youth events and beach handball competitions.
Tender documents were provided to more than 25 qualified companies, with the process starting on September 18. The process was handled by Munich-based media consultancy firm SN1 Consulting.
The EHF said that each of the bids has a financial component and “extensive concepts for the exploitation of the rights” over the 10-year period.
Interested parties were permitted to bid for seven audio-visual rights packages and three marketing packages on a modular basis across all club and national team competitions.
The EHF will now analyse the bids as part of the next step in the process.
The EHF said in June that it would switch to a new method of marketing its rights for its showpiece competitions. Currently, the Infront Sports & Media agency is responsible for the marketing of EHF Euro events, while the MP & Silva agency markets rights to the Champions League.
