International sports broadcaster Eleven Sports Network has signalled its interest in acquiring rights to the Pro League, the top tier of club football in Belgium.
The Pro League’s current set of three-season rights deals are set to expire following the completion of the ongoing 2016-17 campaign.
Anouk Mertens, managing director of Eleven Sports Network België, told Belgian newspaper Het Nieuwsblad that the broadcaster will offer a “competitive bid” for the rights due to the fact a “long-term cooperation” is possible.
Mertens added: “Eleven Sports Network would like to offer clear added value for both the league and the football clubs concerned. Just as we do today with all international football.
“We always want to offer our viewers the widest possible range of top sports. Therefore, the Jupiler Pro League interests us.”
