International pay-television operator Eleven Sports Network has agreed a deal in Belgium for LaLiga, the top division of football in Spain.
The partnership with LaLiga media rights partner the Mediapro agency is for three seasons, from 2015-16 to 2017-18.
LaLiga matches will be shown on a live and delayed basis by Belgian operator Proximus under its carriage deal with Eleven.
Proximus is the first operator to introduce Eleven’s two pay-television channels, Eleven and Eleven Sports, to the Belgian market after a carriage deal struck earlier this month.
LaLiga matches will be shown alongside action from the Italian Serie A, the French Ligue 1, the Scottish Premiership and the English FA Cup, along with the club channels of Serie A’s AC Milan and Arsenal of the English Premier League.
The first Eleven channel is set to launch this Sunday (August 2) for the English Community Shield between Chelsea and Arsenal.
“La Liga is a tremendous addition to Eleven’s global football package; we owe it to our Belgian fans who are great football supporters, and also enthusiasts of other sports and we aim to bring them what they want,” Danny Menken, group managing director of Eleven Sports Network, said. “We are in talks with all the Belgian operators and hope that in due course most fans here will be able to enjoy all we plan to offer.”
