Finnish telecommunications company Elisa has acquired rights for Liga ACB, the top division of basketball in Spain.
The deal covers the 2016-17 season and marks the first time that the competition will be seen on Finnish television.
The rights will be exploited on the pay-television Elisa Entertainment Service. The service also carries coverage of domestic Spanish and Italian football’s LaLiga and Serie A, football’s Uefa Champions League, the Formula One motor-racing world championship, the NBA North American basketball league and the MotoGP motorcycle-racing world championship.
Finnish players have become increasingly prominent in Liga ACB in recent years, with Barcelona’s Petteri Koponen, Gran Canaria’s Sasu Salin and Estudiantes’ Jamar Wilson currently starring in the competition.
