US sports broadcaster ESPN has agreed a carriage deal with PlayStation Vue, the internet television service owned and operated by consumer electronics firm Sony.
Along with ESPN, ESPN2, ESPNU, ESPNEWS and SEC Network, the agreement also includes various channels operated by ESPN’s parent company, The Walt Disney Company.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed, but it marks the first time Disney and ESPN networks are offered over the internet in a multi-channel pay-television service.
The agreement coincides with Sony reducing the price of PlayStation Vue’s multi-channel plans by $10 (€9) for new and existing customers, with plans now starting at $39.99 per month.
