The College Football Playoff and ESPN are in “the midst of negotiations” to renew the network as the sole rights-holder for the premier college sports event as it expands from four to 12 teams.

According to a report by ESPN just ahead of the CFP national championship game on Monday night, the deal would include the final two years of the current CFP contract plus six additional years. It is claimed that ESPN is “considering paying approximately $1.3bn (€1.2bn) for the rights” in a deal that would begin in 2026.
