Pay-television broadcaster ESPN is to deliver coverage of the new US College Football Playoff collegiate American football competition to audiences in Europe via ESPN Player, its live and on-demand sports streaming service.
The CFP is a new system in college American football that determines the national champion of the National Collegiate Athletic Association Division 1 Football Bowl Subdivision. Four college teams compete in two semi-final ‘bowl games’ on New Year’s Day before progressing to the National Championship game later in January.
Subscribers to ESPN Player will have access to live coverage of these three games, as well as the ESPN College Gameday pre-game show prior to each match.
ESPN Player will also stream live coverage of more than 30 other bowl games that will take place during the three-week Bowl Season surrounding the CFP. This coverage will begin with the New Orleans Bowl on December 20.
