Brazilian pay-television broadcaster ESPN Brasil has acquired highlights rights for coverage of Campeonato Série A, the top division of domestic club football in the country.
The rights, covering the 2013 season, have been acquired in a sub-licensing deal with rival pay-television broadcaster Globosat.
ESPN Brasil director general German Hartenstein said that the deal is part of the broadcaster’s strategy to bolster its football content.
Hartenstein said: “This acquisition is part of a strategy of ESPN guided by well-defined pillars: journalism, debates, films and big events. With this new content we have further strengthened our journalism and are investing increasingly in football.”
