Eurosport acquires FIS World Cup rights from Infront

Pan-European broadcaster Eurosport agreed a five-year deal with the Infront Sports & Media agency for rights for Fédération Internationale de Ski World Cup events in the 2011-12 to 2015-16 seasons.

The deal covers the majority of FIS World Cup events. Infront sells the international rights for most of the world’s ski federations – the events’ rights-holders – the notable exceptions being the Austrian and Finnish federations.

Eurosport has acquired rights for almost 200 events per season in the disciplines of alpine skiing, cross-country skiing, freestyle skiing, Nordic combined skiing, ski jumping and snowboarding.

Eurosport will show the action on the Eurosport and Eurosport 2 pay-television channels in Europe as well as the Eurosport Asia-Pacific pay-television channel. The European channels will carry 600 hours of FIS World Cup action per season.

Eurosport Player, Eurosport’s online video service, will show live and video-on-demand coverage of all the events across six channels – one for each World Cup discipline – in all European countries. The Eurosport Player mobile application will offer the coverage in 14 European countries.
