Discovery-owned pan-European sports broadcaster Eurosport will broadcast two matches per week from the Portuguese Primeira Liga until the end of the 2019-20 season.
Eurosport will exploit the rights on its Eurosport 2 linear channel by broadcasting two matches from each of the remaining eight match days after an agreement was announced today (Tuesday).
The matches will also be broadcast via the Eurosport App and online with highlights from both matches. Highlights from every match in the corresponding round of fixtures will also be available on the app and online.
The first two of these fixtures come this week with C.D. Aves facing FC Porto today and Rio Ave tackling Benfica tomorrow.
Portuguese pay-television broadcaster Sport TV holds the international distribution rights to the Primeira Liga. Earlier this year, Sport TV issued an international tender for rights to the Primeira Liga covering a three-season cycle between 2020-21 and 2022-23.
The Primeira Liga rights will sit alongside Eurosport’s Norwegian Eliteserien rights as European football resumes following a three-month break due to the Covid-19 pandemic.
