International sports broadcaster Eurosport has secured an exclusive digital streaming rights deal with the Badminton World Federation.
Under the two-year agreement, which will begin immediately and run until the end of 2017, Eurosport will stream coverage of key BWF events via its Eurosport Player live and on-demand digital service.
The deal covers the BWF’s flagship World Championships in 2017 as well as the 2016 editions of the men’s Thomas Cup and women’s Uber Cup team events.
The agreement also includes coverage of the 2016 and 2017 World Superseries and Grand Prix Gold Series, as well the 2017 Sudirman Cup mixed-team event.
The deal excludes France for the Thomas Cup, Uber Cup Finals and World Superseries premier events in 2016, as well as Denmark for all events.
Thomas Lund, general secretary of the BWF, said: “Internet-based content is one of the most significant and fastest-growing markets in sports and we look forward to reaching and engaging European fans in a more tangible way through Eurosport Player.”
