Eurosport scores Club World Cup rights across European markets

Pan-regional broadcaster Eurosport has acquired exclusive live television and digital rights in 36 of its European territories for the next two editions of the Fifa Club World Cup football competition, which will be held on December 11-21, 2013 and December 10-20, 2014 in Morocco.

All matches, of both tournaments, will be broadcast on Eurosport France and Eurosport 2 in 35 northern, eastern and central European territories. The Eurosport Player online simulcast television service will provide the same broadcast on internet and mobile.

Eurosport’s deal covers exclusive rights in Albania, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Czech Republic, Estonia, France, Finland, Georgia, Hungary, Iceland, Kazakhstan, Kosovo, Kyrgyzstan, Latvia, Lithuania, Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Romania, Russia, Serbia, Slovakia, Slovenia, Sweden, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, Ukraine and Uzbekistan.

The broadcaster will hold non-exclusive rights in Denmark.

The annual Club World Cup pits the club champions from Fifa’s six continental confederations and the host country league against each other for the crown of world football club of the year.

Brazil’s Corinthians lifted last year’s Club World Cup trophy by defeating England’s Chelsea 1-0.
