Internet company Amazon will start offering live television channels, including Eurosport, via its Prime Video subscription service in the UK for an extra fee.
Until now, Prime Video has offered only on-demand films and television programmes in the UK, but people will now be able to subscribe to channels without paying for a bundle.
Eurosport will be offered for £6.99 (€8/$9) per month under an agreement with the international sports broadcaster’s parent company, Discovery Communications.
The various channels available carry different prices, but viewers must also subscribe to an Amazon Prime membership for £79 per year.
“This is a starting point,” said Alex Green, managing director of Amazon Video, according to the BBC. “We're offering linear TV channels where it makes sense. We have a good spread of big partners and I'm sure that will only grow."
