Eurovision Services, the business arm of the European Broadcasting Union consortium of public-service broadcasters, has been selected by Premier League Productions (PLP) as the principal global distributor of the top flight of English football.
Under the agreement, Eurovision Services will use its hybrid fibre and satellite network to control, distribute and monitor HD and UHD content produced by PLP around the world.
Eurovision Services will also distribute the 24/7 Premier League Content Service across Asia and the Americas. The three-season deal begins with the 2019-20 campaign.
PLP is a partnership between the Premier League and the IMG agency. The company is responsible for the production and distribution of all the competition’s international programming, including all 380 Premier League matches, supplementary programming and the Premier League Content Service.
In May, the Premier League signed a three-season extension to its contract with IMG, through which the two parties will continue to operate PLP.
IMG’s new contract runs until the end of the 2021-22 season and will see 76 matches per season broadcast in 4K/UHD, as well as more than 500 match promos and 50 pieces of short-form content produced per week.
This 2019-20 season marks the Premier League’s 16th year in partnership with IMG for the management of PLP.
