Extreme Sports Channel links up with Xbox

Broadcast and distribution company Chello Zone, a division of Liberty Global’s Chellomedia, has agreed a deal for its Extreme Sports Channel to be available via the Xbox 360 gaming console for an upcoming BMX cycling event, according to the Rapid TV News website.

The channel’s live coverage of the BMX Finals of the Simple Sessions BMX and Skateboarding event on March 17 will be available through the Xbox Live service as well as the Extreme Sports Channel’s website and the Simple Sessions website.

“We have been bringing the action from Simple Sessions live to our web viewers for the past three years and are thrilled to be developing this into the games console space, and to be one of the first to broadcast sports content live with interactive audience polling via the Xbox,” the channel’s head of online, Andy Viall, said.

Rob Crossen, Xbox’s executive producer for Europe, the Middle East and Africa, added: “Live streaming from Simple Session is such a great fit for our audience and we’re excited to see how they interact with the content using our real time interactive polling.”
